I had high hopes for these shorts and I don’t know if I’ll ever succeed. But they are finished and more wearable than I thought.

I think the start of my problems came with the fabric choice. There is just no “give” in canvas. The rest of my problems stem from inexperience with fitting trousers. I still notice some bunching but it won’t keep me from wearing them.

Originally, I was going to submit these for the Red, White, or Blue challenge way back in July. But I put them aside because I just didn’t have good feelings about them. I knew if I studied up a bit more I could make them work. When I went back to them last week I didn’t even try them on, just sewed in the zipper and tacked down the facing. I tried them on only to see where I should hem them. And miracle of miracles they fit much better than I remembered!

Since it’s autumn and I’m not a crazy person, I won’t get to wear them again until next year. So here’s hoping my hips and bum don’t change shape before then!!
