Prep for Sew Weekly: TV Characters

The next theme up for Sew Weekly is outfits based on TV characters. I explain all my thinking in my post, but I’m going with Emma Pillsbury from Glee. Her style has stuck with me even though I stopped watching after season 2.

I’ve enjoyed the little bit of searching I’ve done for inspiration outfits. And in doing so I stumbled across this picture (click for source):

WHAT THE WHAT?!

That’s my skirt fabric! On Rachel Berry! Anyone know the story behind this? Just found it. “Scribble Houndstooth Skirt” from Marc by Marc Jacobs…it retailed for almost $300! I made mine for about $7.

How cool! Yeah, Fashion Fabrics Club had it on sale for under $5/yard the other day. After I saw the MJ price I sat staring at the pictures for literally 10 minutes trying to figure out what made it $300 worth of skirt. Very little, imho.
